Jannik Sinner won the 2026 Miami Open on Sunday, defeating Czech 21st seed Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 in the men’s final at Hard Rock Stadium to complete the Sunshine Double and cement his status as the dominant force in men’s tennis heading into the clay-court season.
The Italian world No. 2 became the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to win both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season, finishing the feat without dropping a single set across either tournament — a first in the history of the Sunshine Double.
Sinner controlled Sunday’s final from the start, breaking Lehecka twice while facing just one break point himself across the entire match. He finished with 10 aces and lost only 13 service points, keeping the Czech under relentless pressure at every critical moment. A rain interruption early in the second set did nothing to disrupt his rhythm, and he closed out the championship with the same calm authority that has defined his entire North American hard-court swing.
The win extended Sinner’s remarkable streak to 32 consecutive sets won at Masters 1000 level, a run stretching back to the Paris Masters last year. He is the first player in history to complete the Sunshine Double without dropping a set.
Lehecka, contesting the first Masters 1000 final of his career, had been one of the tournament’s standout stories after routing Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals. The Czech had not dropped serve throughout the tournament and arrived in the final with genuine momentum. Against Sinner, however, he was unable to convert his lone break point opportunity and could not find the openings he needed on return. Lehecka has now lost all four of his career meetings with the Italian without winning a set.
En route to the final, Sinner had beaten Damir Dzumhur, Corentin Moutet, Alex Michelsen and Frances Tiafoe before dispatching third-seeded Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) in the semifinals for his seventh consecutive hard-court victory over the German.
The Miami title was Sinner’s seventh ATP Masters 1000 crown and his second in Florida, having also won the trophy in 2024. Earlier this month at Indian Wells he became just the third player in history to win all six hard-court Masters 1000 events.
The tour now moves to clay, with the Monte Carlo Masters the first major stop in mid-April, followed by Madrid and Rome. Sinner arrives on the dirt as the sport’s most in-form player, and with world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz yet to replicate his level this spring, the question of who truly leads men’s tennis in 2026 may already have its answer.
