Dionisio Paniagua, known as “Nito,” shared a positive update with his followers. The well-known tour guide, who has a strong presence on social media, said the process to renew his license for Corcovado National Park has moved forward again.
A few days earlier, Paniagua explained that his license had expired. Tour guides in Costa Rica must complete 50 hours of coursework every two years to renew their licenses. He admitted that he missed several opportunities to take the courses and accumulate the hours. When the deadline arrived, he fell short by 14 hours.
This issue stopped him from working in the park. The situation left him worried and angry. His followers reacted strongly and called on the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) and the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) to respond. On Sunday, Paniagua reported that the ICT has now given approval. He expects MINAE to complete its part in the coming weeks. Authorities contacted him directly to help resolve the matter.
Paniagua said he does not see the authorities as his enemies. He expressed satisfaction that they solved the situation together. He acknowledged that he should not have left the paperwork until the last minute. After the agreement, he suggested other ways to earn the required hours. These could include giving talks to children and young people in coordination with the Ministry of Public Education.
Paniagua thanked his followers for the attention they brought to his case. He received messages from people abroad who worried that something bad might have happened to him. He said he did not realize how much support he had from people watching from behind the screen. Now he wants to direct that support toward positive actions.
He hopes to soon help people in remote or underserved areas and bring visibility to the problems they face. With a big smile, the content creator said: “I’m here now, it’s all over.”
